community studies

JCCI has completed over 70 studies focused on important issues in the community.

The study process brings together a committee of volunteers from various backgrounds with a range of experiences.  Committee members meet regularly to learn from speakers ranging from experts in the field to policymakers and industry professionals.  They discuss how what they have learned applies to the community's potential to address problems and work for real change.

Current Studies

JCCI's current study, "Children 1-2-3" examines how Jacksonville can best foster early learning success for children ages birth to 3 in the community.

The study blog (http://jccichildren123.blogspot.com) features articles about criticial windows of brain development, how other countries tackle similar issues in early education, and what quality child care means.  Many of our speakers' presentations--which are loaded with fascinating research and compelling arguments--are available there, too. 

Community Works, the consulting arm of JCCI, is pleased to announce its next project, Check It Out: Independent Library Funding, a study that will examine the question: Should the Jacksonville Public Library system become funded independently from the City of Jacksonville? Community Works is inviting the public to join this study.

The study will be chaired by Jim Stevenson, Vice President of Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Military, Public Safety and Security Division and JCCI Board Member, and Walt Bussells, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for GreenPointe Holdings, LLC.  The study is receiving funding support from Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library Inc., the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation, and JCCI donors.
