J.F. Bryan IV chaired this examination of the previous ten years of public education reform efforts, from JCCI's 1993 study to the New Century Commission report and the numerous state and federal education initiatives, and concluded that the biggest challenge still facing local public education is the achievement gap. This is Phase One of a two-year study.
Results from advocacy efforts:
- The Phase One committee found that the achievement gap between students is too wide, and charged Phase Two Study with eliminating this achievement gap.
