Brenna Durden chaired this study of litter and other visual pollution in Jacksonville, which resulted in the new Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission, enhancements to the City's anti-litter efforts, a new annual "Clean Up Jacksonville" day, and a current ballot initiative asking for a citywide zero-tolerance policy on litter.
Results of Advocacy efforts:
- City held its first “Clean Up Jacksonville Day”on June 1, 2002. The City’s public information office won awards for their anti-litter public service announcements.
- Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission established.
- City Council passed a “zero tolerance” litter ordinance.
