Bruce Barcelo and Brian Davis co-chaired this examination of race-based disparities in Jacksonville and the institutional policies and practices which, intentionally or unintentionally, create or perpetuate these disparities. Numerous task forces, a media task force, area summits and discussions, mayoral initiatives, and a Race Relations Report Card are ongoing in response to this study.
A presentation of particular interest during the study was Dr. James B. Crooks' History of Race Relations in Jacksonville.
Results of Advocacy efforts:
- A Mayoral proclamation and City Council resolution supporting public policy that promotes equity and justice in Jacksonville.
- City Council approved spending $900,000 to help supplement the JaxCare Program.
- Race Relations Progress Report created to measure progress.
